|
|
Hi All,
Has anyone got any thoughts on the wheel spacers that you can buy? Seen a site on ebay which looks ok, I've only got regular rims and boots but was wondering if widening the wheelbase would give a little more stability on cornering rather than putting bigger boots on. They're only a couple of inches thick, I think, so sticking out beyond the wheel arch won't be an issue. |

hi Angie, imo a safer way to improve stability on cornering would be to get quality uprated shocks fitted all round
wheel spacers can introduce problems and offer little or no benefit, extra stress on wheel bearings is bad, take your motor off-road and the stresses get worse
plenty of posts on here from owners who've had problems caused by fitting wheel spacers, general opinion is not to fit them
if you want your wheels to fill the arches get a set of wider alloys, not too big an offset and bigger tyres fitted, forces won't be as stressful to bearings compared to wheel spacers and you'll gain more ground clearance too |

And your insurance company won't like them much either! |
