hi nick!

I'm sure my haynes book mentions some dont have filters in the box...I thought that was a bit daft at the time! new one on me..
yep..just checked ..on section 1-29   most models with drain plugs dont have a filter..
oh..most..thats a nice n accurate statement!
whatever happend to haynes books??  I have a huge collection of old haynes books for my rather eccentric classic car addiction (dont ask) and the old ones actually went in to detail about fairly importmant stuff.
oh yeah..that was back in the days when cars were overhauled by repairing stuff (any modern car mechanics reading this..look it up..the opposite of replace unit at customers huge expense)

I have asked and was told that some have "proper" filters and others have just a mesh that will restrict flow if it gets clogged...

So next time i drop the oil i will do the sump too...

The threads are a bit sus too, so i might see about a new sump and/or plug

2.5 has metal mesh filter, lots of dirt inside when I cleaned it
