about to order a new cb package from 4x4CB.com but not sure which one and what base to get. I was thinking of getting a midland 98 with a mag base.
Will it stick to paj roof
will it hold large springer or small springer
Will it stay putt while offroading
OR do i get bar mount as currently trying to fit roof rack
Will it recive better
Is this one stronger than mag mount
Also do i need extention coax to fit lwb?
Does this weaken the signal?
or do i go with another make/model?
Any ideas on this.

Blimey Steve! How many questions!

Yes
Either
Yes
no need
Mag mount better I would say
not really
no, depending on whether you want it full time or 'thrown-in' with accessory plug to power it?
Shouldn't noticably
No
Stick to Midland, a cheap one will be plenty good enough, unless you particularly like the 98? Wink

You could ask them to put a longer coax on for you, saving messing around with bulky connectors, but if you go for a mag mount I wouldn't bother, you'll want it central to the roof more or less so loop it through the door frame.

If you put a twig on a roof rack it may give you a poor SWR as it won't be earthed to the body properly if the clamps are supplied with rubber mouldings which prevent damage to the paint work unless it's the enormous ones I've seen on some Pajs which should be plenty.  Smile

They come with either 3m/4m coax as standard (can't remember which it is)
but, if you want to mount it @ the rear on your LWB, you need an extra metre to what the package is (so state it in your order)

if you're not going to hardwire it in, get a cig lighter plug with it (bout £2), they'll even connect it up for you, so it's plug-n-play Wink

Go for the Midland 48 4x4 package mate, comes with large mount, large springer aerial and small rubber duck aerial and yes they do stick, and more than enough coax to run from the roof at the back to the front console via the rear door tidyly.
