Got the Nitromors, W & D, Flitz Buffball, Autosol, all ready to go, nice Sunday morning job.
Snag, tried undoing one of the stud "nuts" with a Mole wrench , nut snapped off and certainly looks like plastic/nylon. Do I snap off all the heads and centre punch them out from this side, as on the inside of the rim the stud has a flat head ?

Solution !!!
The flat head on the inside of the rim has got a cross cut in it so if you use a thin slothead screwdiver as a drift, a few firm wacks with a hammer will either drive the stud out completely or break it up enough to use a centre punch or similar to remove. Finish it off by running a suitable drill through at slow speed to clean it out.
Tried to clean my pitted wheels this weekend and used nitromors to remove the coating and did not do a thing! ans suggestions on what I could try next?

Great job... you still got them?
The wheels on the new family car havent been looked after so dug out this how to...
then grabbed some rough paper and went out to give them a little rub down to see how bad the worms were.
There not too bad its just seems to be the lacquer is bubbly or worms in it so once removed its just a choice of polish or lacquer the centre again.

I ran a set of polished Shelby mags on my Mustang, looked great and much admired. Polish them up now and again, I think the polish may have an anti oxydent in it.

I cannot believe this has been 6 years ago i didnt realise until someone sent me a private message and asked me some questions, ironically i have started another set today, these wheels im about to do are in a bad way, heavily pitted but with a nice set of boots, they defo deserve a makeover
I didnt intend to but i will do a photo shoot for those interested
If nothing else it will give me the motivation

Here ya go guys, here is another set ive just done, took me approx 6 hours over 3 days, i got these recently on a car i bought so took them off and replaced with a cheap standard set.
Although very straight and unscuffed they were heavily pitted with alot of surface corrosion but i love the way they sit on the car, they are 7.5j with a good offset so they give a Paj a nice stance and topped off with a cracking set of 31 x 10.5 Enduros they were just asking to be refurbed.
This is how they started
Half an hour later after a good going over with a wire brush attachment in a drill
I know these would of looked better polished but i took the easy way out this time as i needed them finished quick.
Masking off
Forgot to take pics primed up lol
First base coat and couldnt resist trying the center caps
2nd coat
Last coat on and drying
Remove masking and add just a touch of tyre sheen and jobs a good un
Total cost £12.80 and six hours graft to bring an old set of wheels back to life, the center caps i already had they came free in a car i bought last year, but they go for about £15.
