I did some work on a Bus Stop about 200 yards away from a mobile camera in Burton on Trent last week, my van was parked at the side of the road so the traffic was crawling towards the camera.
The operator asked me to move as I was stopping him from doing his duties.
Bet you cant guess what I told him to do?
45 minutes later he drove off, he wasnt very happy!
Wonder how many fines he didnt collect on during that period? |

It is set to accelerate the number of drivers with points on their licence from six million to 10 million. |
Oh, what a wonderful idea. Let's see how many drivers will lose their license for getting caught doing a few miles an hour over the limit 4 times.
It's just a complete and utter farce |

You know the law... 40mph means 40mph, not whatever you feel like doing over and above that!

unfortunately, not everyone sticks to the limit
some really abuse it
some creep over the limit by lack of concentration
the abusers usually get away with it
and the naive get stung
there's a crossroads near me, used to be 30 road crossing a 40 road
council decided the 40 road should become a 30, even though there's no houses on it, and they didn't put new signs up, they simply removed the old ones
guess where speed traps appeared for the next 2 weeks?
Thankfully my licence is still clean (hope I ain't jinxed myself now) |

Here in Pembrokeshire there are nothing but mobile speed cameras. The easiest way to get nabbed is where the camera van is parked just a few yards inside the 30 limit. Most people are decelerating and in those first few yards are drifting the speed down to comply.
The other one is where the camera van is waiting where a 30 turns into a 40 and catches the unwary as the car accelerates into the 40 limit. They have you bang to rights because you are still over the designated speed limit even though it is a matter of yards in either case.
The local radio usually broadcasts the whereabouts of the cameras. |

its no wonder no one really has any respect for the law anymore!
this wonderfull government has introduced more pointless laws and made the police even more less able to enforce the important ones.
remember when the police used to catch criminals..I mean real ones, not motorists! |

I'm afraid, much as I like to drive quickly, I now tend to drive within or very close to the speed limit all the time, what with fixed cameras, and mobiles, there's too much chance of getting caught to do otherwise, and I'd hate to spoil my record of 43 clean years. There are times when you can take liberties, like on known stretches of road late at night when the local constabulary are tucked up in bye-byes, and on motorways where they don't seem to worry too much about a few MPH, but mostly it's safer to keep to the limits. Trouble is, I'm sure that while I'm obsessively watcing the speed limit signs, I'm probably missing something else!
Never mind, at least having all the cameras to keep an eye on the motorists means that the Police have more time to go after real criminals!
