could someone please tell me where is the k/down cable? is one end connected to the accellerater peddle? if so, where is the other end? also, what symptoms would my 2.8 diesel have? if say, it was too tight and needed slackening off? thanks in advance, jane. |

from passenger side of engine bay, look under the intercooler (the rad on top of engine)
you'll see the accelerator & kickdown cable
kickdown has a red rubber sleeve
if it isn't adjusted right, your gear changes will be eratic or possibly none existent when you boot it |

move the rubber cover towards the front of the engine, and extend the cable so you can see a metal 'stop' on the cable
the gap between the stop and retainer should be 34 - 35mm
yes, it basically drops it a gear, to give higher revs when needed
kickdown should engage approx 2100rpm in normal driving and 4200rpm when you floor it |
