i have recently started to mix unleaded with the veg oil in the same 5 percent ratio as the white spirit in order not to fall foul of the duty regulations.if you leave it for the same length of time to mix it does the same job.i agree that when the weather is warm you dont really need to use any thinning agent, but the more ratio of cooking oil diesel you use past 50/50 the more you need to thin the cooking oil to aid starting and cold running.jb.  Cool

Sorry here it is direct from Customs website

The producer/user should also furnish evidence that the biofuel has been made using ingredients that will result in a fuel that meets the biodiesel specification. In simple terms this excludes the use of ingredients such as white spirit (which is a hydrocarbon) in the production process.

Any product that does not meet the Biodiesel specification will be considered a fuel substitute and will attract the appropriate duty rate.

White spirit is not approved for use as a road fuel. If white spirit is added to Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) or used in biodiesel production the whole batch would be rendered liable to duty at the ultra low sulphur diesel rate.

Thanks for that. Ok - well, I will stop mixing it now. I believe then the next best mixing solution is unleaded fuel - same ratio, is that correct?

Yep, but you use it a a thinning ingrediant eg 10lites veg oil, half a litre unleaded. Leave for 5 days and the solution should be alot thinner than straight veg oil.

I am hoping the new thinner solution will allow me to not have to get the seals fixed on my pump. Currently not leaking but did if I put in full veg oil at 50/50 ratio.

From what I have read, the idea is not to mix it. You just let it stand to do its magic.
