my old 2.5lwb mk2 had 230000kms when i scrapped it.
funnily enough, the engine and gearbox in it were mint. it was just the rest of the truck degrading it!

my new swb has 71000kms on the clock.

mines just coming up to 212000! Had a new top end at 207000 after the cambelt which was on from when i bought it at 146009, and wasnt changed before i got it, decided to throw a wobbly! well tecnically it was the balance belt but we all know what happens when they go! unless your really lucky!

The ironic thing was, went to kirton on the sunday and was talking about them snapping, was about to ring the garage to book it in on the monday, and it went bang............. Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad

Cut a long story short, broke a valve spring aswell! so i thought if the heads coming off id rather have a new one put on than have mine fixed, along with new water pump, tensioners, belts, etc, etc!

£1246 later....................... Shocked

237000miles from TURBO PAGERO is the highest, well im disapointed thats that is the best, i remenber 15 years back there was a local taxi firm runing 1.6 diesel ford orions on double coller(24 hr's a day) serviced them once a year or 70000 miles( just a oil change) if the mechanic had time from fixing suspention and brake problems and they would run on for nearly 500000 miles and they really were abused.

the old ford diesels always returned longevity if well maintained, it was the bodies that fell to bits!

the citroén/peugeot engines were  also long lived.

wonder about the modern stuff? people just don't keep cars so long any more.
