Been following this thread, OUCH, sorry to hear your misfortune.
Any of you guys know what the local Mitsi dealer (I think they are Station Garage) in Aberdeen is like, I need the steering arm done. They would appear to be my "local" dealer. I tried Seafield Motors in Inverness but they don't want to know
Thanks |

Dont know about Station Garage - I've only ever used them for parts....radiator cap, ex bottle washer.......you'll recognise the symptoms! |

They did my pitman arm recall and it was fine.
They moaned a bit about doing it saying such gems as "how did you find out about this" like it was a trade secret and " mitsubishi havent been paying us for these recall jobs you know". Er thats between you and them.
Had a few probs with parts. went to get new sump guard bolts and the nerk on the desk first of all ordered the wrong ones (they were tiny and wouldnt have held a fleas codpiece on), then said my vehicle didnt actually have a sump guard?! at which point I invited him to come outside and look underneath and see the guards. Then he said he would order the correct ones and call me back.
That was 6 months ago and I'm still waiting for that call!
If the Inverness dealer are a franchised Mitsubishi garage I would assume they have to do it?
If not get on to Mitsubishi and tell em they are refusing to do it.
Anyway I am now booked in with Jim King as recommended and certainly on the phone he sounds a bit more on the ball than the last wally I used. |

Hope it all works out for you. Certainly Jim King used to tune one of my mates rally cars a few years ago - and did a good job by all accounts.
Would be interested to hear Northernsnappers previous comments about an Inverurie garage - if its the one I'm thinking about I have already fallen out with them over the stupidest little thing. |

Ah - that garage! I havent been back since being quoted £700-800 to MOT my car (previous life before Paj). Didnt think it needed much so thought it would be worth a second opinion. Actual cost at the other garage in town? <£100!! Nuff said.
Think I maybe have seen you - do you have the 'spoke' type alloys?
Will be interested to hear how Snappa gets on with Jim King. |

Yeah spoke alloys - thought they were split rims until I bought new tyres. BTW Nene Offroad 7 miles from Inverurie - great service/price when it comes to rubber - 2 explosions later & they're on the rims! |

Yeah had it a year, done a few bits and bobs. Took me back to my yoof when I used to do work on me own motors.
Changed brake pads, filters, cleaned intercooler out, fitted cd player, spotlights etc etc. Very enjoyable. And yep the site has been amazingly helpful in letting me pick the collective brains.
Just had to go to garage to get MOT so wanted them to do a couple of things while they had it.
Watch this space.... |

Snappa,
I'm in to Jim King's on Thursday for MOT & general once over. Have you been out there yet?
He's not the cheapest but worth the extra for peace of mind. |

That man helped me out big time some years ago, I crashed a Vauxhall Chevette HSR (thats the younger readers lost now! ) into a pond, on its roof, on a classic rally stage near Kelso, I got out ok, but my navigators harness jammed, Jim helped me get him free from a car filling with water!!
Aye , its a small world alright, If you see Jim, tell him big Harry the tanker driver says hello! |

Ok the work was done, best quality stuff fitted and very reasonable rates with good advice.
The only niggle would be that the car was dropped off on Monday evening to be looked at Tuesday, and when I phoned at 4.30pm on the Tuesday I was told they had only done the MOT!
They did the other bits and bobs today though, and all seems fine.
I think I just have to get used to the local garage mentality, I'm used to putting a car in one morning and barring drastic problems, getting it back that night!
Jim King to be recommended though.
Cheers |
