Ok folks,

I have looked into going to the lakes for mega meet 2008  -  basically,  the sites that could take approx 40+ vans were very expensive, and very straight-laced !!

rally fields may not have electric hook up, and some aren't allowed caravans because of planning regs...

So,  another option ..  which has been mentioned before a few times  may be to get a deal on a family site at £25 for 5 nights,  early May .....   the site has swimming pool, entertainments, etc etc  and has space for touring caravans, tents, and has static caravans to rent £106 for 3 nights - sleeps 8 (£4.50 pppn!)  or £168 for 7 nights (£3 pppn!! Shocked )

it also has the facilities below .....

Kids' Clubs for 1-11 year olds
Soft play area
Adventure Playgrounds
Coke FC football Coaching
Archery & Fencing
All-Weather Multi Sports Court
Heated Indoor Pool with Flume
Heated Outdoor Pool with Paddling Area
SplashZone & SportsZone Activities Programme
Family Park Rangers
Go Karts
Crazy Golf
Trampolines
Gym
Mini Ten-Pin Bowling
Shops & Services
Convenience Store with Bakery & Off Licence
Hire Shop
Gift Shop
Photo Shop
Launderette
Eating In or Out
Café Bar & Grill
Burger King
Traditional Fish & Chips

Venues and Bars
2 ShowBars
Sports Bar with Snooker Table

The prices are cheap because .....

so, we would have to decide and book this ASAP !!  - thoughts please !!

The site is on the East Yorkshire Coast, near to Scarborough, with tons of things to do and see.  Langdale quest off-road centre is close by, and there is laning on the Yorkshire Moors.

It is a Haven Holidays site ! Laughing   which may put people off,  but  in a lot of respects, it fits our bill very nicely ...  and the price is very good !!

The downside is,  that we would have to go "out of season"  ie not in school holidays  -  the prices i quoted are for dates from 8th/9th May ..  the prices rise during 1/2 term and thereafter ...

their website is here  .....

[web:a34d6ac35d]http://www.touringholidays.co.uk/our_parks/yorkshire_lincolnshire/Blue_Dolphin/default.aspx[/web:a34d6ac35d]

so,  input please .......  over the next 7 days or so .....  poll above

i do know people on the Blue Dolphin site, so we should be able to set aside our own area etc ...

We have a 70 acre field alongside which I  built an off-road track in ... however this field will be in wheat next year ..  but I'll see what other options are available ... (no promises though)

it would be a new style of meeting place  for POCUK  which may be attractive because of the facilities for such a cheap price.

thoughts please .....

Just come back from Primrose valley (another Haven site a couple of miles down the road from Blue Dolphin)  And I can say that I think they are perfect for a MM.  Been to 3 haven sites in last 12 months and all are very good.  Only problem I can see is if people want to drink in the clubs at night they will miss the action in the gazebos.  And we'd never all be able to sit together in the clubs,  or talk cos its too loud but the kids love it.

Sounds great, were in.

Now the £25 for 5 nights? is that the price for a tourer? not sure i read it correctly. But at £106 for a static van i think that will be our option.  Wink  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

To put these prices into perspective, Toms football club do a weekend in wales, similar site but the price is £286 for an 8 berth van. Same time of the year & only difference is the football tournament which the club pays for.  Rolling Eyes

Well done mark, good find.
