We try to accommodate everyone for the Mega Meets, but there will always be some that have to travel further than others no matter where it is

so far we've had:
Derbyshire 05
Gloucestershire 06
Norfolk 07
North Yorkshire 08

Somebody needs to 'take the bull by the horns' and volunteer to arrange this years MM..... or places to stay will be very limited! Sad

You reckon? Shocked  I'd say it was a very difficult and virtually thankless task... and not one I'd want to take on! Rolling Eyes

Knight ...

you got anywhere on this yet?  Question

you are in Reading  - tons of stuff around there .....   I lived there for 15 years  come on  - can't be that hard can it ...?   Laughing    or do it remotely in an area not close to you ...  the methodology is similar  - in no particular order ....

ring the ROW officer and sort out  legal lanes, reccie them, produce roadbooks or get leaders sorted -  ensure all Health and Safety is met ...

find a decent campsite with leccy hook up at a reasonable price, that will accept a 4wd club, and a club gazebo  ( or 5 ) , and is family friendly,

sort out all the bookings, make sure that folks pay etc

source all the kit needed, make sure it arrives on time, and is taken away

make sure that there are enough activities to keep everyone amused - from dedicated off-roaders  to laners, to newbies, to families, to shoppers , to people who just pass by and saw us ..

sort out some entertainments  -

get some local sponsors to donate prizes - or get folks on pocuk to

keep websites up to date

keep a spreadsheet of bookings and payments etc - as you are accountable

ok,  thats the main bits covered I think ... so, like you said,  not that hard ....  especially now some angles of it have been spelled out ....  i am happy to help on some of this, if you can get the ball rolling ...   similarly, lots of other folks will help ...   how did you get on with finding a suitable camp site  - like we said  ..?  This is the main deciding factor, and liason with the site is key, so that nobody gets a surprise ....

if knight can't come up with something, any other practical ideas are welcome,  but please check that the above  rough criterias can be met ......   so many campsites look fine, but have no hook up, or want quiet after 11pm, or don't allow gazebos ....

cheers

time to get this sorted....

we need to just pick a date and venue, (very soon) and then everyone can arrange to get their time off work, start their mm09 fund etc.

who's gonna be brave and say 'this is when and where we are going' ?  Very Happy

I understand that Sid (Jas) is on the case, he has thought of a venue, a good one as far as I am concerned and will be booked in when details are done, will let him update all, he will need some help, we should be looking at a better marquee than we have, and all must be prepared to tyhrow their hands up and offer help.

lets hope we are meeting in 2009, like we have for almost 7 years now.

And lets get there, admin, mods, workers, the lot, mega means LARGE, so lets large it up.

A phone call and email has been sent, as soon as I have the information in hand I will post with the details Wink

The process of looking for a more substantial tent/marquee is in hand thanks to Taz Smile

I'm not trying to keep anyone in the dark, so to speek, its that i dont want a situation of "why not hold the MM here, why not have the MM over this weekend" Rolling Eyes

Keep you posted guys Wink
