hello used to be a member 4 or 5 years back,got myself a pajero with a black smoke problem.basicaly it smokes all the time and gets worse the harder you press the peddle down and sometimes you can hear a deisel knock,the pajero still perfoms as it should.i think i can remember that you can reset the guvner on these engines and can anyone tell me if this will help my problem or any thing else that i could check or clean   cheers gary Shocked

Try cleaning or blanking off the EGR valve (see topic on Forums) Ours was c*ap at starting and smoked like a merchant seaman on Navy Cut, blanked the EGR valve off, hey presto, no probs! Wink

Incidentally, I don't think the Paj has a govenor, it's controlled by the fuel pump timing which is a s*d to sort out.

change the oil and fuilter and put some good oil treatment in,   do the fuel fuilter and put some fuel treatment in the fuilter and tank and the air as well Very Happy  then give her a little pat an kiss Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Hi Gary,Blocking The EGR will not cause Knock,But a Faulty EGR will Wink You should blank it off Wink
