Your first reported symptom was textbook pump seal but it depends on how cold it gets over night as to whether it plays up after morning cold start, it may have just got warm enough over night for it to no longer be an issue.
I do maybe 3 seals a month in the summer but have done up to 10 a week in the winter. |

Thank you mark for your reply
i dont know what to do now then as it has a few other faults too. Little rust under it (not major) rev counter not working, 4wd lighs flashing and like you say the pump seals gone. do u think i should just scrap it or put some money in it? Rough cost of pump seal replacement? |

I have been to Scotland 3 times now to do pump seals but it works out quite expensive for just one (but not as much as you quoted above ) |

Just done my pump seal on my 1997 Pajero. Was dreading it but bit the bullet and done it yesterday. Took me 5 hrs. What a difference it makes to your motor. It's like a different car. So anybody looking to get it done give me shout and I will get it done. I am in the Glasgow area. |

Hello all and happy new year.
Only owned my 2.8 TD Pajero a few days and having problems (cold start will fire up for a few seconds then cuts out. A few tries later all is good). So I figure its the pump seal however wanted some recommendations as who could repair it for me as I am in the Leeds / Bradford Area and rough idea of costs involved?
Kind Regards
Ali |

Just reading through most of this thread )most of it !) it seems this stalling problem happens to 2.8 motors ?
Mine is a 3.2 Did and it has just started acting likes its going to stall in D or R, same symptoms as above but being a 3.2 will it b the same issue with the Pump Seal ? |

Yes i here its a common problem, the filler neck of the tank rusts and some of the debris from this somehow gets into the pump and bye bye pump... |
