Starting off thinking is it worth?
The pajero. Mean.
It an 2,5td long wheel base.

I Payd 1k for it in September.
I spended 550£ so far in it.
No adds on or radio, lights etc counted.
I had most off this already or got it cheap.
To count this it would be another 700£ around.
But it's removable and can be used on another vehicle so I don't count this.

Ow the paj has a really narrow wheel base, I am not use to it.
Patrol and trooper was easy going over single speed humps.
Seems the pajero is made for catching it up.

I tryd wheel spacers, yes cheap one, seems to be better, but i don't feel save
With them, for more then one reason.

Buying new ones would cost another 200£
So also in need of new tyres, or at least second hand ones which are good.
Can't find any without counting money again.
So maybe another 200-300£ to spend in an old truck,

The major problem is the posts I am reading about engine and head problems.
If this happend is another mortgage to have it on the road.

I am not sure anymore if I want yo have a car which cost nearly the half of my
Wages to drive it for a year.

Usually I bought big cars for a max of 500£ and spend in a year around 150£ in it.
Mods I could use on other cars not included.

How much do you guys spend in you're trucks a year?
Just starting to think if iam selling it I may get the money back I spend in it so far.

I never lost or at least not much in a car when I sold it again.
Work and time not included .

Through all this made up government recession and everything is going up in price but wages are not,
It's not so easy anymore as 3 years ago just go and buy.
So the govt we are having should be sold to a scrap yard as well. Lol

I just start counting on this truck every penny, and every time I hear a strange noise
I get worried it may be the engine. Or something else expensive.

Come on, help out here!
I like the truck but I also get input from at home about my worries and
Looking all the time about parts and mods.
I want it done up but is it worth?
Standards as the many factory's or the f@@@ government like it - yuk - I hate it.
Just see newzeland. Can't do anything because of poo govt regulations.

Junc you have just asked the 64 million dollar question is it worth it on an old car it all depends on
how much you enjoy having one of these trucks and how much or how little you want to spend on it.
In my case I need some welding done and some leaks sorting out plus one or two other things just
to get it through an mot, but cant afford anything at the moment so it sits there waiting for the work to be done
but I would not get rid of it coz they are like a drug once you have one you don't want to let it go(or at least I don't)
So its entirely up to you do you get that buzz from owning one or do you have a dread that you cant spend any more on it
only you know the answer to that, good luck deciding !!!  Confused

Only you can decide that answer junc, you have asked it on a specialist pajero forum  Laughing

Bits you mention regarding wheels and spacers is personal preference,4 solid hub centric spacers new are £120 or get 8j modular wheels with offset .

This is what gives me headache.
I like the truck.
I would like getting it even more mean looking.
I want to keep it.
I can't afford spending 100£ so tear in it,
I can't afford having it off the road for more then one day
I have a lot input with not being happy the way it is and
Want to do moe on it therefore ending load of time on it / for it.

Even be prepared Serling the gsxf1100 for it to have the funds for
Spacers, lift, bigger wheels / rims.
But, getting input from home if I do it and the truck breakes I may
Be the devil on earth because wouldn't even have the bike anymore.

That's a deist ion which means risking it and May loosing the ability to life, lol,
Or cutting losses and buy another vehicle ?
Yes I know, it can cost as much.

I bought the truck because if problems with
Floorings
Snow / ice
Towing a big caravan
Having fun

So it ticket all the boxes.

Yes i know.
I couldn't ask on a mini forum, can I?
I know the personal joice of mods on a vehicle is not relevant
To the cost to run.

But, with the spacers, as we been talking about, it feels a lot better.
But ( again ) it's as you say 120 or what I found around 170 and I start
Thinking of is t worth buying all this stuff?

How long would the truck making it pay back before some big issues
Coming up and I spend a lot money in it, maybe staying thee without a car at the end for a ling time.

If the truck would be only 5 or 7 years old eith maybe 50000 miles I wouldn't mind.
But he has already over 200 000 km on it.
So around 160 000 miles.

Junc, it might make you feel better to know that 200 000 kms is only approx 125 000 miles.  Unless you're used to thinking in kms of course, in which case it won't make any difference.

If you sell this there is a chance you will go through same again with another motor.

You have already done lots of bits,my advice is stop worrying and start enjoying .If it breaks it breaks.....goes for anything really.

Mods ,spacers etc no rush Wink

It's up to you. At least you now know that the things you have replaced will never need replaced again.

I've had mine for 4 years, and in that 4 years the only things that have gone faulty was the Rad, 1 brake calliper, injector pump and injectors leaked and Last week the cylinder head went.

The Rad was €65 , the calliper was €120 the fuel system was €400ish and I got a second hand engine that had the head replaced for €200. when you add on the service parts which would come up to about €60 - 80 a year if you buy the fluids bulk it's pretty cheap motoring.

These trucks are tough,my engine got run out of oil over 2 years ago,and kept going, every since it did it weeped a bit due to the rings getting worn but it  didn't get any less efficient. That is why I bought a new engine rather than a head, and i'll rebuild my old one while it is out.  If you buy a patrol or a trooper you aren't going to get trouble free motoring from them either, especially if you buy cheap, the 3L patrols blow engines for fun,and the troopers are no better.

And I don't think the track of the patrols and troopers are too different to the pajero, maybe yours has had the anti roll bar pulled out of it,or needs shocks if it feels a little unstable.

Sorry, but only a few days ago you were moaning about cost at MOT.

You then quickly followed up the expense of mot comments with plans to modify for off roading and fun.

Get a grip...
you either want it or you don't.
If you want it, you pay.
If you don't want to pay, get rid of it.

It's not exactly a difficult decision.

It may seems normal spending some amount on money on a vehicle for you, I didn't do it in the last 10 years.
Maybe I been lucky but usually I spend around 100£ for a car getting it through an mot and some bits and bops
Not counting the service parts.
And I man to driving small cars either. Usually try keeping to 3 liter 6cylinder or volvo 5 cylinder.
Not cheap cars but parts easy and cheap to get hold of and mods cheap too.
So it is a world different looking about 500£ in 3 month and more for some little mod parts.
I may need to get used to this first.

Ok. But it's not only the km or mileage.
I do mileage. Km to mileage is not my strongest side.
Still I seen all the posts and through this I  am aware of every noises ich comes from the engine parts.
Maybe silly but I would like not to worry every morning.

I know you guys spend a lot on you're trucks.
Maybe that's what a pajero is. I just didn't found the slot yet to juk some money in. Wink

Think I start having a look for where to get the cheap parts then and start collecting.
Well, yes let's hope the parts I replaced already don't need replacing anymore.
Wishbones, ball joints, brake discs, brake pads ??? Lol
And maybe for a used running engine in case.
If this is happend I need to get hold of another at or change the engine in less then
2 days as I wouldn't have the chance going anywhere.

Sounds to me unfair to class a Pajero/shogun as a money pit...

Its obvious buying an old truck your going to have some issues but sort them out and enjoy it...you bought it for a reason...

To be perfectly honest it sounds as though you bought a pig if your that un happy with it or your a Land Rover SPY  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing My truck runs smoother than any car I've ever owned and after changing my ATF for proper spIII I can't even feel the gear change, just the note of the exhaust change  Cool

You cant expect to buy a car for £1k and want it to drive like a brand new £40k+ 4x4 no matter what the universally outstanding reviews the truck has Laughing

CDJ HUNTING LAND ROVER SPIES Laughing  Laughing  Cool
