Another vote for AVG.... according to a friend of mine who works in IT it's better than Kasperski or Norton, and it's free!! I've been using it for years with no problems- switched to Kasperski because someone gave me a free 'key' thinking it'd be better, and found it to be very glitchy... so straight back to AVG for me and staying there! |

AVG is the best! Plus it doesn't seem to slow the computer down as much as some others....... |

eset ... £24.95 ... by 'free in a way ' - I guess you're either reloading the free-trial every month or you have 'pirated' a copy
Anyway ...
Yep ... AVG for us too ... it's easy to set up and use and it's FREE (in every way) for most of the functionality - extra bells & whistles come at a price, but the basic, free product is enough to keep the 'nasties' out

AVG here too - they always say if something looks too good to be true it probably is, but certainly not with AVG - you really are getting a brilliant product for nothing. |

Funny. I was looking at this post a few minutes ago. I've used AVG for years, never had a virus, or any other problems. I've just had a message box pop up that says "Invalid update control CTF file". I tried to update AVG, update failed, and the same message. Ideas anybody?

I used to use the full AVG, having paid for a 12 month subscription, which seemed to work OK. I decided to give the free version a go instead, and after a few weeks I had the same happen to me. Eventually I removed the programme and then re-download it again..... a couple of days later, it happened again. So, I got rid of AVG totally, and I'm using Avast at the moment, which seems OK (it is also free for home use). |

Thanks mate. That's interesting. I've got AVG8 on a disc that I used when I changed my PC. I'll try re-installing it, see what happens.
