Another vote for AVG.... according to a friend of mine who works in IT it's better than Kasperski or Norton, and it's free!! Laughing  I've been using it for years with no problems- switched to Kasperski because someone gave me a free 'key' thinking it'd be better, and found it to be very glitchy... so straight back to AVG for me and staying there!

AVG is the best! Plus it doesn't seem to slow the computer down as much as some others.......

eset ... £24.95 Shocked ... by 'free in a way Twisted Evil' - I guess you're either reloading the free-trial every month or you have 'pirated' a copy dontknow

Anyway ...

Yep ... AVG for us too ... it's easy to set up and use and it's FREE (in every way) for most of the functionality - extra bells & whistles come at a price, but the basic, free product is enough to keep the 'nasties' out Wink

AVG here too - they always say if something looks too good to be true it probably is, but certainly not with AVG - you really are getting a brilliant product for nothing.

Funny. I was looking at this post a few minutes ago. I've used AVG for years, never had a virus, or any other problems. I've just had a message box pop up that says "Invalid update control CTF file". I tried to update AVG, update failed, and the same message. Ideas anybody?

I used to use the full AVG, having paid for a 12 month subscription, which seemed to work OK. I decided to give the free version a go instead, and after a few weeks I had the same happen to me. Eventually I removed the programme and then re-download it again..... a couple of days later, it happened again. So, I got rid of AVG totally, and I'm using Avast at the moment, which seems OK (it is also free for home use).

Thanks mate. That's interesting. I've got AVG8 on a disc that I used when I changed my PC. I'll try  re-installing it, see what happens.
