|
|
Hi folks ...
Right lets shake off the winter blues and start to think about gorgeous hot summer days and getting out there and enjoying the sun and ourselves as a club.
After last years massive success im pleased to announce the details of the RAFs annual Cosford airshow yet again, this years event takes place a touch later in the year and will be held on Sunday the 14th of June 2009.
For the last 3 years now as a club we have attended RAF Cosford for the airshow, the 1st year there were just the 3 of us, the second year 20 and last year i was blown away by the response, there were almost 30 members and we all had a great day.
RAF Cosford airshow is centrally located in Staffordshire which makes it pretty easy for most to get to, hence why they boast some of the biggest airshow spectator figures throughout the country.
To get into the RAF station itself for a family of 4 costs well in excess of £60 But hang on we are not going in the RAF grounds itself so we wont be paying that because we will be viewing the show from here

Its a local club that is extremely close by where all the same action can be be seen, and the entrance was just a stagerring £10 per car last year regardless of amount of occupants.
As i said last year we had nearly 30 POCUK members turn up and all parked together we looked awesome,Apart from that dodgy Range Rover it would be great to think we could smash that record this year, its a great summers day out and we would love to see more yellow diamonds, Especially NEWBIES, dont be shy, come and join us its a fantastic day and i guarantee you will not be dissapointed.
Have a look at the 2008 reviews here http://www.pocuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=81167
For more info of the itenery visit .. http://www.cosfordairshow.co.uk/
We will actually be viewing all of the action from here ... http://albrighton.play-cricket.com/home/home.asp
Here is a quote form the site itself
Albrighton Cricket Club will once again open its gates on Sunday 14th June 2009 at 10.00am for our annual open day. However due to the number of planes flying over that afternoon we tend not to play much cricket but enjoy the splendid fly-by`s over RAF Cosford for the Airshow. To add to the event anually we endure barbecues, pancakes, penalty competitions, bouncy castles, tombola`s and of course a well stocked bar. Anyone interested in our open day can contact the Club on 01902 373221 or Darren Shimmons on 07815 883207
This event does get very busy indeed with local roads getting heavily congested, so we as a club if we want to be parked together need to be arriving 9am ish in convoy to secure a good viewing spot parked together.
No fees are required upfront as its a pay at the gate event.
The first year was a very hot day indeed with pure blue skies, alot of people got sun burnt so bring some sun block, especially for the kids
So just to run through this day of fun
Meet up between 8.30 and 9am on Telford services @ Junction 4 of the M54, chat and welcome and say hi to all, then set off in convoy for the venue, bring a cb if you want to join in the hilarious banter ... Arrive at the gate and as you head for the line up just watch the faces of the crowds as the convoy moves in, park up, food and drinks start to flow and just sit back and enjoy the summer and the awesome show.
Again there will be trophies for best turned out cars catagories to follow Fastnige your barred
With this being such a great saving on the day and with the high posibility of a good attendance it would be great if we could all try to make a small donation to the club, because without this great club and the forums we would not be able to have this brilliant day out
***** ATTENTION CAMPERS *****
This year i would also like to open this event up to not just locals but those who live further afield, so you guys can also get a piece of the action without travelling all that distance for just one day you can now stop over for a long weekend in the company of other POCUKers, im going to try to arrange a camping weekend at Lickhill Manor at Stourport which is a lovely beauty spot and tourist town, where we can have barbies and just generally chill out before a great event, so if this is of interest to you please say so asap :wink i will sort it given the right amount of interest
Right then whos coming ?

All the aircraft do an inverted turn over the cricket club Paul...at about 100' .......just wait for the car alarms to go off ..........especially the Typhoon ...................absoloutely stunning aircraft
BTW technically it shouldn't fly due to its confirguration .the computers take care of the geodoics |
