OK - so you're not sure what the correct tyre pressure for your Pajero should be?

Before you add yet another post asking for the recommended tyre pressure, please take a few minutes to check the following links ...

Im confused by it all. scratch

I had a 55 plate focus estate and the recommended tyre pressures on that were 34 all round.

So how can the recommended tyre pressures for something so much bigger and heavier be less?

My way of thinking is my truck is heavy so there is more weight on the big tyres so need more air.

Ive never pumped a car tyre up less than 34 and now that i got the Paj i pump my tyres upto 40.

Does'nt matter how big or small the tyres are..just cos a mini has small tyres and is light don't mean you inflate the tyres 10 psi and a dumper truck 60 psi....inflation is psi...pounds per square inch.. bit hard to explain but there ya go.. Wink

Any idea what a 265/75/16 should be inflated to on a Shogun 56 plate, 2.8TD? - I just followed the 265/70/16 measurement on the inner door... think it was 2 bar (trying to remember off the top of my head)

The construction if tyres differs in size, use, make, 4x4 tyres are much stronger than ones for a fiesta for example..also the PSI of a tyre can change the way a tyre acts to pressures put on them...if you over inflate a tyre to much you will increase the stopping distance..if you decrese the trye pressure than you will not roll as efficently as it can. If you are unsure of tyre PSI then refer to the handbook (or haynes manual) (or even the side of the tyre). also on 4x4 the psi is set at the level it is so that maximum traction can be gained from that tyre...do not agjust the trye pressure (accept extreme offroading) as the car is designed to run at its best at the recmonded tyre pressure.

Hi, Pounds per square inch (psi) as on our Pajero's the tyre are large so ther for the stated psi is the correct for the tyre size, take e.g. a mini tyre not any where as much surface area as ours so need a touch more pressure, if you inflate too much psi the centre of the tread wears if to little psi the outside of the tyre wears. Just by checking the the wear patern of your tyres will tell you wether you have to much or to little psi, either way it will cost you more tyres per miles. The best time to check is after a good drive down on a dry motorway, this will show you the wear. Hope this helps
