          nice one,
i wont be in till 4-00pm ,i dont have a contact # . all it was about was do you have to take the manifold off  to get at the fixings for the pump, and what seals and gaskets do you need to get. i take it you have to get the filters, seals and gaskets from the dealer. sorry to be a pain in the butt, thanks again.

                                                                                mick.

Hi. I am also struggling with I think a fuel problem. I have a 3.5 although not the GDI engine, Remember to go to a local Bosch agent and buy a universal fuel pump element that should cost not more than 25 pounds . It is not neccessary to replace the whole Mitsubishi fuel pump. I just did the same.

hi, thanks for info, the problem with the gdi engine was the small filter on the inlet to the high pessure pump , there are two filters , but you only have to change one , so far it,s working ok. good look with yours.

                                                cheers mick.

Ok

She's flying like a deram! Very Happy

Cheers for the tip about the filters, don't know how you guys get them out but it took some significant butchering to get them out and a strip down of the High Pressure pump to clean the remnants of the filters out.

Got a little fuel leak from the outlet of the HP pump but that'll be cured when the new filters are fitted as one of the seals split when I was removing the pipe.

Got about a million and one photos so anyone taking on this task in the future will be able to reference this thread. Hopefully it'll be good enough to become a STICKY as I was close to burning the old girl when it started getting worse! LOL

I now know which gaskets and bits are needed so can make up a parts list for everying as well. Just need to source these elusive filters!

Cheers again.

VERY VERY HAPPY...!  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

so do you reckon it was the fuel pump all along, and are you talking about the one in engine bay at bulkhead that you need to strip inlet manifold off to get to? as your problem is my problem too!!

cheers

Hi mate..

Got you PM

The problem on mine was the micro filters in the high pressure pump on top of the engine.

You only need to replace the one and it has since been proved that this can be done without removing anyting of significance from the engine as the petrol feed hose securing bolts are accessble from behind the inlet manifold. The whole job shouldn't take much time at all.

My advice previous was to fit an inline filter in the fuel hose to reduce the chance of this happening again.

Any problem get back in touch

New member; just to let you know I did this exact job last year and it resolved the issue - microfilters sourced from an online store for just a few quid but one strange thing we still have is no GDi light on the instrument cluster since the repair.
