Sussed it ! I had a look underneath today and I found out the answer to both problems. As a result of lifting it up 3", the rubber grommet that holds the gearbox loom got pulled out of the body shell. This hole is directly underneath the cubby hole and allowed all the hot air from the engine, gearbox & exhaust pipe to flow straight up in to the cab. hence it was flaming hot. The transfer lever is also hot as this now sits much lower and because it's now exposed and made of metal, transferred the circulating hot air to conduct up the lever. I've cut the tie holding the loom, plugged it back in and cabled it in place and it's much better. I'll have to put up with the hot transfer lever until I can find a way of shielding that. Perhaps all those who suffer from the same problem should check their grommet !

I've just had a nightmare morning. As I mentioned previously, the hoses were at full stretch and last night i noticed that I had lost water. I had put this down to water being lost when I was extending the top rad hose and thought nothing more of this. Today after 5miles it went in to the red, so i pulled over and filled it up with 1/2 gallon of water and carried on. I got a mile up the road and it went in to the red again. When I checked again, what did I see ? the hose from the heater to the block had been pulled off ! I limped in to a texaco and took a stroll to a nearby Halfords, and I would like to know, what are they good for ? They don't sell hoses, they sell *beep*, a woman tried to sell me radweld (say what now?) I'm now in the middle of nowhere and have no transport. They suggested that I took a walk to a motor parts dealer who happened to have heater hoses in stock. Armed with my hose, do you think that I could get my fat mits down the back of the engine to remove the old hose ? Plus do you think that I could reach down in to the engine bay with it now standing at chest high ? I had loads of people making their smart *beep* comments about me fixing my motor whilst wearing a suit & tie (I was on my way to work). Anyway, after 2 1/2 hours I'm back on the road and all the heater hoses will be extended. For the record, you "WILL" require 5/8 (15mm) heater hoses sooner or later. Now for a lie down in a darkend room. |

Yes, you'll have to move the bumpers up otherwise you'll have a funny gap. If you can use a welder, then just weld some plates to both sides of the bumper bracket with holes to suit. Subzero is doing some flat plates and spacers for either a 2 or 2 inch lift and these bolt on, so give him a call.
Good Luck! |

Perspective is a funny thing. Those pictures were taken when it had 33" tyres and you could see that it was jacked up due to the daylight showing through. Now that it's on 35"s, most of daylight's gone and it looks like a normal motor, but physically bigger.
