If you're talking about taking it to a garage to do it, then you're talking shed loads of money I'm afraid. Just make sure that you have enough jacks (and the right types), a long weekend and mates to help you out and you'll be fine. I did mine on my own on a sloping gravel driveway which was hairy enough, hence the write-up detailing the negative & positive experiences afterwards. Loads of people have done the 2" lift on SWB models on their own as it's very easy but it's just the 3" on a 2.8 that takes time. Subzero has done loads and he can get them done in no time, especially if it's the 2.5. He's an excellent geezer to have on call so give him a shout (also for the bumper relocating plates)

Before you start, remember you'll need

two sets of spanners or sockets sets, or spanners and a socket set to hold and tighten the bolts from above & below.
a level surface
high lift jack
5ft lengths of 2x2 or 3x3 beams for support
heavy mallet and a long metal rod to knock out captive bolts
heater hose
38mm flexible rad hose

a bible for all the swearing that will ensue.

Go for it and good luck.

simply awsome...

quicky - ive got some springs for my lwb 2800 that will give a 2" lift - no mods required for fitting these and adjusting torsion bar to match so ive been told......

however if i go for a 2" body lift aswell does that mean i will have a total of 4" lift overall or will it just level it out to 2" + are there any mods if i go down this route?..

new to all this stuff

cheers in advance

If you've got lifting springs, then this will lift the suspension only. ie only jack up the back. If you've got body mounting blocks, then only the body will lift. Therefore together it'll be 4 inch total. Before I fitted my uprated springs, I had a two inch suspension kit fitted using spacers but I reckon that I'll probably add those on top of the new springs, as the the truck is sitting level with the front and looks a bit wierd. I reckon that on a motor with nothing in the back and no roof rack, you'll get the full 2 inch lift but my boot is full of junk and I have a roof rack with a 5ft lift jack on it, hence it sits lower.

PS. You will need longer shocks to go with the springs as you'll have more travel in them and I don't think that the standard shocks can hack it.

On a 2" suspension lift standard shocks will be fine
A 2" body lift won't affect the suspension in any way
You would end up with a total lift of 4"

I think that he's saying that he wants to just raise the suspension by using lifting springs only. Can the stock shocks be extended to match as they'll need the extra travel on them? Otherwise he'll need the shock extensions that Mr Subzero supplies.

Perspective is a funny thing. Those pictures were taken when it had 33" tyres and you could see that it was jacked up due to the daylight showing through. Now that it's on 35"s, most of daylight's gone and it looks like a normal motor, but physically bigger.

Looks amazing great job,how are they on 35"s ,how is the steering ,is it holding up with such big tyres as it could still be an option yet for me.So a 3" lift is sufficient for 35"s.I was just planning a 2" lift you see so i could do a 1" body lift or even 2" body lift on top of the suspension lift, thanks in advance for any advice Very Happy
