Hello all the Pajero owners out there! I just joined up here so that i can pick the brains of all the experts out there.

I have a 1992 SWB Paj and for the past 2-3 months ive been battling against water which somehow ends up pooled in my passenger side footwell. Im assuming its not a/c related as it doesnt smell or taste (yes i tasted it) like anything out of the ordinary. Ive had the passenger seat out, pulled back the carpet and the small amount of underlay and it seems there is a high tide line. There is no signs of water running down into the well which is the basis of the question.

WHERE IS THE BLOODY WATER COMING FROM!!!!?????!!!!!

I would appreciate it immensely if you would help me out with my Paj.

Have you got a sunroof ?

The drain tubes run down the A pillar , past the footwells and out by the rear of the wheel ( front ) arch.... They can get blocked/damaged and drop water into the cabin.

............. also the drain for the condensation from the AC is on the passenger side. When your AC is working hard can you see water flowing/dripping from a pipe below the bulkhead ( passenger side ) area ??

I literally NEVER use the a/c. Im too scottish to waste gas on the temperature of the air, haha.

test for the sunroof is to open it and poor some water into the channel , if it flows freely onto the floor via the drain then all is ( possibly) ok. If it ends up in your footwell then pipe is bust Wink

The AC drain pipe can become disconnected but im not sure how to test or get it back on. Confused

, the drain for the air intake ( heater ) can get blocked up and lead to water getting to the cabin......... ( grill under windscreen) Rolling Eyes

Oh, i'm sorry dont have a sunroof either. I should of mentioned that earlier.

Ok , that narrows it down... get a watering can/ hose pipe and poor water into the grills under the windscreen , the water should immediately flow/gush from the rear of the front wheel arches Wink

Thanks for all the useful things for me to try. I was a bit sceptical as to whether this would find me useful answers but so far so good.

How would i go about finding and clearing the said blocked pipes? Are they made of something stern enough for me to jam some wire down there without doing more harm than good?

do you have roof rails fitted by any chance? i had similar prob on my 2.5,turned out water was getting in via the rail mounting holes,dropped head lining,sealed hole,jobs a good un

Hi
Mine was coming in via the bulkhead where the wiring loom enters the cab on my swb someone had not replaced the groment correctly when they wired up the towbar
On one of my lwb I found it was getting under the chrome stripe of the windscreen so I sealed it with silicone and that did the job

Hi, I had the exact same problem. On a 92 k reg 3.0l v6 swb. I took the passenger side wing off (just a few bolts) and their is a large black gromit where cables enter the bulkhead. I siliconed the whole thing ( I MEAN EVERYWHERE LOL), then around the seams about the gromit. I siliconed above and around, basically every seam, join and weld around that area. Not had a leak in nearly 6 months since ! and after a valet of the carpet the 4x4 no longer stinks!

Hi
Thats a major job by the sounds of it
You can get at the gromet from the inside of the car and also reach it from the engine bay
Like you I put loads of silicone around it and no more problems
