Hi all, what sort of mpg would be expected from a lwb 2.8, would it be low 20's or high 20's, driving it cautiously without accelerating hard,
thanks taz....

When I got mine new I'd get 26mpg around town and 29 mpg on the motorway. 13 years later I get 23-24 around town and 28 on the motorway.

If I could bother to clean the air cooler I would probably get it a bit better.  Laughing   Laughing

The motorway mpg is the same with just one person in it or with 4 people, all their dive gear and towing a 6 metre rib full of dive bottles and weight belts.  Shocked

All the ones I've owned - 5 in total have been 2.8's and all serviced and looked after well. Despite that, I've never managed to get the sort of mpg some on here do. All mine have been around 18-22 per gallon.

to and fro work (approx 1 mile each way) plus brownies/cubs with kids, last long steady run to Clacton (solo) and back got
29mpg, hope to get a bit better on run now EGR off and manifolds blanked.

My 2.8 currently hovers between 18 to 19 mpg, it has done better on a run but town traffic and queuing for traffic lights don't help much. 26 to 27 on a good run on a motorway.  Could be improved I'd guess by turning the fuel mix down a little but goes quite well at present so best leave alone I think! More to the point you don't have one of these trucks and worry about the mpg, you sit there and enjoy the grin factor which in my view goes along way to righting lot of those negative thoughts!

Mark.

Here we go then!

figures recorded since 15th of june 08 (yawn).

Best       25.37 mpg
Worst     18.46 mpg
Average 20.85 mpg

I don't really care about the mpg but it can be a good indicator of service requirements etc, my consumption dropped noticably just before service was due and then improved after service was carried out. this convinces me more that those in the know that say service, service, and service again are correct and we should all learn from this! These trucks love new oil and filters! When was your's last serviced and how many miles since the last?

Mark
