I have just done 430 miles on 57 litres, which according to the mpg calculator is 34.29mpg. A fair bit of it was constant 50mph on A roads, with a bit of town driving.
I have a 2.5 swb. Is that right, or is the calculator wrong?

'94 SWB 2.8 5 speed :

Gentle local work, no endless stop start jam stuff though = average 28.01MPG

Long distance weekend, majority motorway/steady A roads @ 50MPH, 585KM on £70.01 @ £1.34 litre = 31.63MPG

It's certainly doable, I got 31.63MPG on a weekend run in a 2.8 SWB manual at a constant 50MPH, 2.5 is fractionally better on fuel. You must be driving it sensibly and have it running spot on there fella  Cool

Running a 91 2.5TD SWB 150k on the clock

I only do a few thousand miles each year as the shogun is not the main car, it would break me.

Best I have had solo is 25MPG and that was mainly 60ish on motorways but with oversized tyres this is all guess work.
If all i do is run around the lanes and into a town, with a bit of time in the woods  then it is 20-22MPG
Towing 1500Kg and a bit of running around on hols seems to be 20MPG but the last trip only gave 18MPG, I did want to get home though.

From experience I think it is worthile sticking to main fuel stations like ESSO etc ( locally they are cheaper than the superstores ) and an occasionlay tank of super supreme dogs dangly diesel makes it run better and a bit more economical.

I have a 1995 2.8 LWB with manual gearbox and the last 300 miles I did consisted of a 140 mile round trip on motorways at 70-80mph, a family day out with 7 people in the Paj which was a 120 mile round trip at 50-60mph and the approx 40 miles of commuting to work at  40-60 mph and I got 20.3mpg.

I've kept a fuel record since I got it at the beginning of March 2013 and i've had between 19.7 - 23.2 mpg (average 21.1mpg) over a period of 2 months and 4 days and a distance of 1767 miles.
