is yours the type with the fuel tank on top?
and a petrol tap behind the on/off switch?
couple of things to try - take off the flywheel and check the woodruff key in the flywheel, if its the one i think it is, the woodruff key shears off as its cast as part of the aluminium flywheel, also take the bottom off the carb and take the float off and pull the needle out and check the needle rubber hasn't broke up too |

Have striped the carb use my compreser to blow out anything stuck in it and everything else is as it should be
even the woodruff key is ok can't get hold of a capacitor for it so will have to find one off an old washing machine
as these are of a simular type ( CBB61 25uf 300v ) other than changing that i am left with a duff ignition coil
i have been looking around for an ignition wiring diagram without battery i remember my father having a motor
bike that never had a battery on it it was an Honda 50 so i am hoping to rewire it using motorcycle ignition parts.
this a picture of the gen we have but our is red and is 800watt

woodruff key is built in on the flywheel isnt it?
Go along to a good nut and bolt supplier, and ask them to find you some key steel to fit, then needle file the flywheel to suit it
OR do what I did, put it back on without, just line it up to where it used to be and tichten the nut damn tight our has lasted well, used every weekend to power our caravan |
