It was not that I was getting any problems it was that up to a couple of weeks ago when on POCUK i would just get the normal IP scans on port 135 etc.. But for a while I was getting full blown all port scans and the firewall was having to do the full blocking job. All the thread was about is that some members are not as security minded as others and it was just a reminder to them to maybe look at there systems.Other members had reported the same problem so we know it was a deliberate attack on this site and that there could be a breach of security on their computers.and to be careful....Oh and yes still getting the port scans but not as severe..

Not great with computers. Did the test. Failed on one. Solicited TCP packets. Haven't got a clue what they are talking about. What do I have to do to shut the door? Dave.

It is difficult to close ports manually and some ports are required for different services port 1027 is linked to port 135 and is used for such services as msn messenger. If you have win2k you can use this TOOL.You do not state which operating system you use so it is difficult to give you a diffinitive answer. The easiest way to cover yourself is to use a firewall and ask it to stealth port 1027 in the firewall advanced setting.

If you want to check if any programme is using port 1027 you can do this in windows Arrow Start button Arrow Run Arrow type CMD Arrow this takes you to a DOS window , then type NETSTAT -AN this will tell you what it running on which port at that time.
