Try SMC Mitsubishi in Sittingbourne, just had them complete a 60,000 mile major service on my Pajero 3.5 GDI. I found them extremely helpfull they have all the proper tools and electronic equipment to carry out the setting up of all the vital computerised engine and gearbox components.

Hi,
Thanks for the posting on your service.

What did they charge for the service and what did they do for it.

Regards,

MrB

Just had the major 54,000 mile service done by this Mitsubishi dealer it cost £780.00, not cheap but it took them 4 days and they have all the right tools to do the job properly, plus they changed all the fluids including the brake, all filters, plugs, tuned everything including analysis of the electronic engine and gearbox controls and serviced the brakes steering and wheel bearings, set up the valve and injector timing etc.. Excellent job, beware of the backstreet boys as they havn't got the right kit to do the job properly.

The timing belt change is a major part of the job with radiator out and and lots of other engine bits to remove at least an 8 hour job, you need the right tools to lock the numerous pulleys and tension the belt, not a job you can afford to have done wrong.

Well worth having it done properly and remember it won't need doing for another 54,000 miles.

I recently changed the Timing Belt on my Subaru which is a twin overhead cam flat four with pulleys everywhere, I think this was a doddle compared with what is required to get at the GDI Pajero belt.

N.B.

You might also like to look at Topic "How often do you ..." posted by Blues N twos on the Pajero Technical Forum, includes some interesting stuff on serrvicing.

Check out Servicing Agents Forum

See Timing Belt not a bad price by Christian

There is a note about a Mechanic one of the members recently used who is in your area.

Hope this helps.

Hi AC,
Thanks for all the info very helpful and much appreciated.

Phoned Mit's in Sittingbourne and they quoted me today £990 inc VAT and parts!!!

But still toying with the idea as it may may cure the Gearbox/diff noise with new oil.

I phoned Mot's in Bromley and the guy laughed, said he was not sure about the cam belt change as they had not done one before!! so left thequote open!!
Mit's in Tonbridge Wells said it does not fit into the service schedule they had so would class it as a 2001 model !!! £970.00 all in!!!

I will ring the guy in Northfleet from the previous post to see what he says.

Regards,

MrB

Hi MrB,

They initially quoted me the same price, but they do what they call an older vehicle servicing price, talk to Mick Austin who is in charge of the service dep't there, they also have a SMC Misubishi dealership somewhere up your way that he also manages.

Before I contacted SMC Misubishi at Sittingbourne, I talked to a very experienced Mechanic I know at a large local garage, he specialises in Timing Belt changes. He looked at my Pajero and his "Cam Belt Bible" he said he would not touch it as he had not got the specialist tools specific to the Pajero to hold all the pulleys in position and it would be at least an 8 hour job.
