Older cars are often bought by people with lower disposable incomes, who need a larger vehicle and cant buy new. When something like this goes we get stuffed. Sad

Your pictures are the shut of flap which closes when you switch off the engine to stop it running on. Starves it of air.
All the fuelling is controlled by the pump.
