My 3.2 DiD LWB Shogun 2004 started overheating on Saturday. Checked all the normal water & Oil Levels when I got it home & seemed ok.
Done a bit of reading up on here and the expansion bottle is filling and recycling back into the radiator. The top hose does not seem pressurised when running, ie can squeeze it. I do have bubbles in the expansion bottle.
So before I go down the head gasket route I was trying to rule out a few other possibles. Is there a simple way of bypassing the EGR Cooler to see if that is the fault and if this is the fault can it be removed totally and the ports blanked off with litle problem.
I know I probably wont be that lucky & it will the worst case scenario but you got to try.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Hello

First step is to call your local mitsi dealer as there is a recall on the EGR cooler,  Had mine done on recall.

Can you fit a bit of rubber hose or solid pipe between the inlet and outlet connections?
Mine was air cooled so I just removed and blanked it.

Due to cracking I believe but beyond that I've no idea, I confirmed with Mitsubishi that mine had been done - if your chassis number has had the recall then they will know for sure.

It isn't a safety item so won't appear on any VOSA list.

Hello

They replace the cooler (not sure what happens but they are prone to leak) which I believe is a £300 + job at the dealer !  when they go you get symptoms of head problems for obvious reasons white smoke on start up dumping fluid out the expansion bottle etc.  My 04 also had the dipstick recall, they replace engine oil dipstick and put another 1/2 litre or so of oil in.

Regards Mark
