Your starter for ten
http://k0bg.com/abcs.html
First things first. Power direct from the battery with a fuse as close to the battery as pos (If the insulation fails, the fuse will blow instead of setting fire to the car)
Two things with this. (1) Reduce pickup of QRM from the rest of the wiring.
(2) Reduce voltage sag under load
Bonding, Braided earthing straps. Bonnet to body in several places.
Chassis to body
Exhaust to body in a couple of places (Can re-radiate on 40 metres)
Have a good look all over K0BG's website (If you want some major bedtime reading lol) |

I've looked around my Shoggie Sport.
To power the radio, Look under the bonnet on the passenger side at the bulkhead.
There is a heater pipe (corrugated) going into the bulkhead right in the corner.
I'm pretty certain it provides air for the dashboard vent nearest the door.
The pipe goes through a large rubber grommet.
Put your wires through there. It will come out behind the glove box.
Recommendation, if you can lay your hands on one, get the FL223 narrow ssb filter |
