Hi , all
I’m a newbie ( second time round )

Ok here goes have a 2006 mk3 manual ,
Beginning of October my wife ran it out of fuel while queuing at the pump ,
The nice local recovery firm that happened to see her priming the filter after filling with 30 litres of diesel
Told her to crank the engine while he pumped the primer ,
Needless to say diesel pump died , it never started again
I put a second hand pump on it and it started and drove , but fault codes for TCV and TPS
I found under the taped up wires on the pump they were damaged and shorted ,
Sent pump back and was replaced ,
Now the car is a pig to start when it does will not tick over , but will drive all day just keep revs over 1000rpm
How ever if I unplug the big connector on the diesel pump with the ignition on and plug it back in I can turn the key it will
Immediately start and drop revs from 1200 to 800 and tick over a little lumpy for hours , but when you rev it will top out at 1800 revs  with plumes of black smoke
