Hi, my Shogun engine swop has turned into a "project"
The latest issue is white smoke.
We fitted engine from breakers yard and it fires up fine, only problem is it idles nicely but with white smoke (lots of it!) when revs up around 3000 rpm lots more smoke ( smells of fuel) and a bit lumpy!  as soon as temperature starts to move it gets a little worse. Have drained and cleaned tank and new fuel (car been standing for a while) but still the same. not sure where to look next? any ideas please?

3.2 did 2002 (auto)

Sounds very much like injector pump timing to me, trouble with it being from a breaker you have no idea of its history, not so much maintenance but what repairs was attempted before it was scrapped  Sad

Hi , Mark 3,
thanks for the reply, the pump timing was one option that has been mentioned. But hope not as i dont want to pull the pump again if if not! tried diagnostic reader only for some reason it says connection error!
What we tried today ( don't know why!) we pulled the temperature sensor out of old block and tried it but smoke just the same, but when i pulled the cable of the sensor and connected it to the spare sensor outside the engine the engine idled perfect with no smoke!! ( until i pushed the revs up passed 2500 then smoke back!) Dont have a clue as to what that means ???
