Ok this has happened 4 times now and is getting a bit annoying. The car is a 2007 Shogun diamond and mostly is a great drive. Then all of a sudden whilst on a short trip to town it will lose power no guts at all and putting foot to the floor it barely creeps along like at walking pace for like half a mile and then it will be ok again. It seems to me like a diesel starvation fault but I just don't know. Has anyone had similar and been able to fix it, any ideas or pointers would be most appreciated |

Ok this keeps happening every 2 weeks or so. The car starts up OK and runs OK, after a stop at some traffic lights when you try to pull away there is very little power having to put my foot to the floor to keep up with bicycles. After a stop and turn ignition off it sets off OK and can be OK for another 2 weeks??
Any ideas rather none would be much appreciated
Oh its a 2007 shogun diamond edition with the 3.2DID engine. |

The problem as described sounds for me like a sticky or slow-closing EGR valve. The EGR valve is open while idle and closes when a certain RPM is reached. If the closing is slow you have hesitation and low performance. |

That dont mean what controls it is working ok though?
Pull the vac hose off it, plug the hose with anything that fits and see if it makes a difference....... |

Did you resolve this?
I'm having very similar problems with my Mk4
It's been off and on.
It was very bad a couple of weeks ago, to the point it would hardly move.
I put it in neutral and revved the b*llocks off it - Big plume of white smoke.
It was hesitant for a bit after that but eventually all was well.
This has happened a few times over the last few years but often the problem seems to sort itself after a few episodes.
It feels like it's more likely to happen as the fuel tank approaches empty and for about 40-50 miles after fill up.
But that could be coincidence as the previous times this has happened I can't remember. |

Could be faulty EGR. Try to unplug the electric plug from EGR and drive for couple days to see if the problem is gone (hopefully it shouldn't harm too much ). Plug it back and again observe for couple days if the problem is back.
I'm assuming you have the same type of EGR as mine but I might be wrong. |

Problem isn't evident at the moment and hasn't been since my last post.
Getting the EGR checked out Thursday for gunk and also the inlet manifold. |
