98 model German-market Pajero 2.8 GLS with most definitely NOT an EDC pump, just your standard issue mech pump with the boost compensator diaphragm on top. However there's a TPS on the throttle lever, and inside the body under the dash there's an OBD2-type connector. Why do I have these electronic components if I don't actually have an ECM or even an automatic transmission? Thanks for any light that can be shed on this, that TPS has been annoying me every time I go to tweak tune boost compensator (I'm chasing the best power with little to no smoke).

hello.
I think that all auto 2.8 have TPS

The connector is for retrieving fault codes for the ABS and gearbox. As far as I know it does nothing else. You can get the fault codes with an analogue multi meter.

Oh yes that would make perfect sense. Except my truck has a manual transmission, always has from what the registration suggests. Is it maybe a case of Mitsubishi taking a page off Ford's book and adding all the wiring that forks possibly be needed to every vehicle, and then just leaving connectors tied off and tucked away for the equipment that's not actually installed.

Ignore some stupid words in the above post, auto correct on this phone makes some rather questionable choices sometimes, lol

I have no idea if a TPS is usually fitted to a manual. The trusty Paj also has plenty of connectors which are not in use.

They did the same, one wiring loom for all eventualities

Oh and as i understand it the datalink connector (obd socket) is for the auto box which is electronic so if this exists on a manual as well then thats another case of goodness knows why lol

Well my main reason for asking is cause of how annoying the TPS is to put back in place after boost compensator adjustment, with its little spacers that are oh so easy to drop down into the abyss, lol. Wonder what happens if I leave the thing unplugged... Already know what happens if the two ground wires on the back of the pump are left off (not on purpose mind, just forgot about them one time) - the tach don't work 🤦‍♂️
