Hi all!
I recently bought an 1989 Pajero, originally it was with naturally aspirated engine, but last owner swapped it with turbo variant.
I have an issue where it seems to lack power, well it does move a bit on lower gears but on freeway with 5th gear i can get about 100km/h max speed, with tailwind bit more, this doesnt seem right.
Revs go to 3000rpm on 5th gear and thats all.
So 3000rpm on 5th gear gives about 100km/h or 60mph, it does seem to run fine on idle and also seem to rev normally in neutral so logically it could not be an fuel system issue ?
When looking closely it seems that the turbo does blow something, i tought about installing turbo gauge to see what it actually does.
So here comes my first question, how much pressure should this turbo give out ?
Also i notice that the rod that goes to wastegate and acutator doesnt seem to move much, when i disconnect the rod from top, then i can move the valve, but when its connected it cannot be moved.
Appreaciate any help and ideas.

So fitted a boost gauge and first mesaured turbo conditon with wastegate closed and actuator disconnected, so it puts out around 1bar of pressure.
When i put actuator back in pressure line, then it opens wastegate around 0.6bar so thats maximum i get when driving, it seems bit low to me.
At wich pressure actuator should open the wastegate? |
