|
|
Hi People, New to this so treat me gently..
Have a 96 2.8td swb and the Air con just doesn't seem to get very cold. the internal temperature sensor on the digital compass is also not working!
Shows the outside temp but nothing for the inside. Is this problem linked?
The system is fully gased, and Yes i have switched it on properly using the * button. Spoke breifly to MMC locally and they suggested it may need a new controller. ££££££!!
My own gut feeling is the internal sensor is duff, but seek advice from the all knowing eye.
Any Ideas????
Cheers

You need to check your internal sensor ,( located under the steering wheel)
check that it is connected , if it is then it could be faulty

Does your climate control look like this (mines a 95 LWB and has this type)
If so one of the sensors is here, slots next to the temp control knob.
and the other is here, black plastic cap drivers side next to the screen vent.
If its the other version of controls then the sensor is as wayne99 says, under the steering column. (PM Forum member Bertie, he sells these)

no,for the aircon it's located on the a/c unit itself(the older type is a small square on the faceplate, look at it and you'll know what i mean) |

Thanks for all the feedback!!
I have a the Air-con unit with I (i assume ) a sensor next to rear switch. Once again from general chat i am assuming it's this sensor that duff. I cannot find anything under the steering wheel.
If this sensor in the dash has gone does anyone know a cheap supplier and are they easy to replace??
Also, looking for some mud to play in around East Sussex, any ideas!
cheers

The sensor for that aircon model is under the steering wheel, if you look down the front of the steering column you should see it at the front, If you have a square hole then it is missing
Or am i getting this sensor mixed up with another one?

the aircon temp sensor on that model is next to the "REAR" button and one on the dash as in mickmaxtaz's picture
the one under the steering column between your knees is for the internal temp on the compass/temp dial, both are unrelated, just like more x 4 said
if you want a sensor for the compass/temp dial then pm Bertie he sells em, if you need one for the climate control unit then keep an eye on "that" auction site as they regularly come up on there |

The sensor you describe as a black plastic cap drivers side next to the screen vent does not control temperature! it is a part of the A/C, electronics that detects sun light. When it does, your blower will increase air flow into the cabin. For those who have this sensor, (some models dont) try covering it with an opaque objet. Do this before going out in the sun. after a few minutes of driving, (taking note of the blower speed), remove the cover. you will notice an increase in blower air flow. This is assuming your controls are set to "Auto". |

Sounds obvious but you did press the button to show internal temp. or did I miss that? |
