Hi driving on a flat motorway with cruise control on my paj's revs changed fro 2900-2600rpm. When I started up it the AT light stayed on for a min the came back on 15 miles into the journey. Whilst doing 30-40 at a steady speed it would churn out lots of plumes of black smoke and it was very unresponsive. I had to put the pwr button on and put into the 2 pos on the gear selector (auto). Ive bought a fuel filter and it looks to be a pain in the behind just for a filter.also I thought it could be the EGR, however I did use Veg oil on the last fill up and decided against doing that again.

It sounds like you have a problem with either your feul pump pressure or one or more of your diesel injectors. Check these first. If the fault does not clear check the Diagnostic codes on your cars computer with a analogue meter.
