Hiya,

My wipers aren't working when I turn them on the first position... intermittent intervals...

They just stay put... every other position/speed the wipers work.

I checked the fuse, ok. The plug next to the wiper motor and sprayed it with WD40 which seems to only have been a temporary solution...

Does the wiper have a relay? Where?

Or could it be the wiper motor?

Pajero 2.8 4M40 from 1996

thanks,

Pedro

I always thought the wiper relay was near the internal fuse box but this is the wiring diagram for the 1994 model which is likely to be very similar to yours

It seems to show that the intermittent wiper relay is in the column switch  Shocked

The diagram is for a LHD vehicle - hence the "left side of IP" label.

I sometimes wonder if engineers get together and say 'Let's put the relay where no one will ever find it!"

Thanks, I'll try to clean the plug a bit more and check the relay taking the steering wheel column off.

Yep! - try changing the left side wishbone bush. Because it has to be inserted from the front then the front diff has to be unbolted and raised. Why didn't they make it go in from the rear? - there is a hundred miles of space to get it in from that direction!!

Or one of the bolts in the MK3 Shogun in the rear diff carrier that the tank needs taking down to get it out.  Very Happy

Well,

It's not the relay... it's definitely the wiper motor.

I tried to remove it for inspection, but can't seem to figure out how it comes out.

I did unbolt the screws but it's still holding on to, my guess, is the wiper arm.

Do I need to take the wiper arm out before?!

Yes - the spindle goes through the hole in the door.
