Haha, no worries bud. These bulbs you have shown really only shine straight forward.
I bought a set for my Frontera's flashers and reverse lights etc, but removed them as they do not bounce off the reflectors inside the light units.
So you can only really see them if you are directly inline with them. Wasted my money there. |

And I found out they work under water!! - one of my rear lights filled up with water somehow but the LED kept going (but went rusty!) |

I have just fitted my new spotlights and wanted to pick up a live for their side light bulbs (5w large capless) so removed the front indicator/sidelight unit. I found in the sidelight lower section a double filament bulb like fitted to the rear side/brake light. A three wire connector to the lower section, sidelight using the 5w filament. So is this normal? What is the 21w filament for dayrun?
Confused... |

Yes - normal for a Pajero
21W filament is for the turn light - if your sidelights and ignition are on and you put the indicator on then the sidelight lights up on that side using the 21W filament.
It is supposed to help you see round the corner you are about to turn into - totally useless, I got rid of mine. |

That's a first for me
I will have to have another look tomorrow and try that. Didn't read nothing about that in any manual I have got...
It would make more sense to make the 21w a day run light that goes off when the sidelights are turned on, like a Volvo.
So is it just a case of fitting the LEDs you have got and have a brighter sidelight? |

You will need stop/tail lights in your front and rear sidelights - they are brighter but not by much, they cost much more than an ordinary bulb.
If you decide to do your indicators then you will either need to fit resistors or change the flasher relay. |

Can you wire in an ignition live to the 21w front side light to make day run lights? |

Anything is possible - you would have to disconnect the wire on that filament though and run a new wire.
The original wire must have some sort of control box so the truck knows when to put on that light.
You will probably need a dimmer as they would be too bright at night.

DRL may be combined with other lamps. For example some manufacturers use the same lamp for
both the DRL and position lamp. In these cases the DRL automatically dims to function as a lower
intensity position lamp when the headlamps are turned on. DRL placed close to direction
indicators may also automatically dim when the direction indicator is active. This is to ensure that
the direction indicator is not masked by the light from the DRL. |

. Ideally retro fitted DRL should be installed such that they activate
automatically when the engine starts and switch off when headlamps are turned on. If this is not
the case then you must ensure that you manually turn DRL off at night as they will cause dazzle
and discomfort to others if used in low ambient lighting conditions. |
