If you do not have category B+E on your licence, the maximum trailer weight you are allowed to tow is 750kg without brakes. You are not allowed to tow a braked trailer or any trailer over 750kg never mind what the max train weight or what your vehicle can tow.

Incorrect.

You can tow EITHER an unbraked trailer up to 750kg OR a braked trailer providing that the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the MAM of the vehicle, AND that the combined MAM of the trailer plus MAM of the towing vehicle is less than 3500kg.

I have previously verified this with a traffic plod, and a B+E instructor.

Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

From HERE

I have a CAT B licence

M.A.M is the same as M.G.W

My Caravan's MAM aka M.G.W      =    1080Kg
Pajero's (assumed MAM)              =    2360Kg

As I work in a caravan / trailer shop and sell caravans, I have to be 99% suer of the advice I give. Failure for me to give the correct advice means our insurance becomes invalid.

I have printed this and lamitated it in the shop
Well you are wrong. It plainly says in all the legislation - People who passed their driving test after January 1st 1997 are entitled to tow An un-braked trailer up to 750kg

May be the braked bit is wrong but, anyone passing their test after January 1st 1997 can only tow a trailer up to 750kg. Smile

Hmm, Vin plate gone?

Just a silly Q, how do you "know" it's legit? Those kind of things send alarm bells ringing... Especially for these cars. back in the day their theft value was massive and they were going missing all the time back in the 90's!! (The cars not the plates)

Right, I stopped a mate of mine (yes I have friends lol) in his 2.5 SWB his VIN plate along with his VIN number shows

2510
5310
1-1100
2-1650

So - 5310kg - 2510kg = 2800kg

I know you don't want to discuss it but, does your log book say Shogun??
