Suspension and Tyres,
Knowing full well i planed i loading the back up with loads of gear, i choose the Old Man Emu setup.
I know loads of people have just used LWB springs or patrol springs, but IMO the importance of the correct
ratings and free heights when you plan to use the vehicle off road alot really is very important.
The rear coils are a 170 LBS duel rate front torsions replaced with new and shocks were again Old man Emu.
Unfortunately, as it was a staff vehicle the boys didn't bother getting any pictures
But i have a few from after.
Tyres are a 285 75 16 Pro Comp Mud terrain. we had these in stock so i snapped them up, they mimic the old BFG Muds

Shogun Sport Winch Mount/Bumper
As alot of you know the front ARB bumper for the sports is expensive, ugly and hard to get hold of.
So i decided to go with the winch mount and original bumper instead.
We took of the bumper to inspec the mounting options.
Ohhh thats tight.
Using one of our universal trays the boys set about mounting it to the chassis, with cross tabs for stregth,
We used the exsiting impact end mounting points and fabbed up some brackets to attached backwards on the chassis rails
Triming out the small front support in the mean time to make room
Eyeing up the bumper fitment we were hoping to get away with very little trimming, unfortunately we couldnt, the curve of the bumper ment more and more needed to be trimmed in order
to get a correct fitment, "in hindsight a body lift on 1" would have helped here"
Because of the location and the space, i had to remove the winch control unit and replace it with an Albright contractor under the bonnet.
We completely rebuilt the front end just to make sure it was all fine, and did a few pulls to a tree. Everything grooovy
Finished it off in silver and added recovery eyes

That's a very neat winch installation.
Do you work for/with Devon 4x4? You mentioned 'Using one of our universal trays...'
Really enjoying your thread and looking forward to future installments. |

Well while the Mrs was driving to work, a Corsa of all things lost control and hit the side of our truck
The force of the side impact sent the truck across the road with enough force that when it hit the wall it bent the rear axel.
And that was the End of her, Insurance scrapped her.
We got a good deal for the truck to be honest Inc the £800 for the wheels and tyres, and the personal injury is still ongoing. |

Oh no!
I do hope your Mrs is OK now. When did that happen?
Have you replaced the truck? |

Glad she's OK. That's the main thing.
But please don't keep the suspense going too long! I hate secrets!
