Spare wheel removal

Hi guys.
Can someone tell me how you get the spare wheel off the chain please?
I had it wound right down, but cannot see how the bracket comes away. I thought it would turn side ways and pop the through the wheel centre, but it won't go through.

It needs to be dropped down low enough so that one end can be lifted up through the wheel centre.

Mine was stuck to The wheel rim when I first got my sport. But the gentle application of brute force helped them to part company 💣
