2018 3.2 LWB SG3 UK Shogun. Can anyone say categorically which HID bulb size I need for my dipped headlights? Half the internet says D4S, half says D2S. I could take a look but I was hoping to keep my fat fingers away from high voltages and brittle plastic as much as possible.
Both bulbs are very dim and slow to light up - I'm guessing unchanged for 6 years and many miles. I'm planning to change both with fuses out and key out the ignition!

If they're the same as the MY2018 L200 that manual says:

3. Headlamps, high/low beam: 25 W (D5S)

See page 10-23 of the L200 manual at

https://mitsubishi-motors.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/18MY-L200-Owners-Manual.pdf

There is no MY18 manual for the Pajero, only MY17, and it just says "dealer job" for high intensity headlamps.

Interesting issue. The D5S is 12V DC, D4S 42V (AC), D2S 84V (AC).

The sources I've found seem to suggest D4S but as you say there are some suggesting D2S!

If you can locate the ballast/igniter unit and get its Mitsubishi part number and get its specifications (easier than removing the bulb!) then since the voltages are different you should be able to determine which bulb is used.

The alternative would be to call a Mitsubishi dealer with the VIN and ask.

Thanks iam_TJ. The handbook does say they're 35W (which D2S and D4S are) but otherwise to leave it to Mitsubishi. At your suggestion I just had a quick look with a torch but found nothing useful. Actually, I think it's easier than i feared to look at the bulb, at least on the drivers side, so I'll have a proper look when it's light

A bit more sleuthing and looking at a parts diagram on Amayama (not for a 3.2 DID) suggest the bulb part number might be MU820005. These are for sale on Ebay labeled as a D2S

Just to confirm - the bulbs in my 2018 HID dipped beam headlamps were D2S. 2 x Osram Xenarcs now fitted
