Hi all Smile
Im at a loose end after the guy in Motosave snapped the lower carrier bolt while changed my brake pads(i did give him the go ahead as they had to be done) the bolt is mostly still in situ with the head and about in inch or so coming away....after changing the pads he did his best to locktite the pin back into position while it seems fine obviously it has to be changed ASAP ..so..the car is a 1997 2.8TD LWB PAJERO..With ABS !!

Is there a difference between an ABS carrier and a non ABS one,Ive spent the day trying to find a used ABS carrier but to no avail..as its just the carrier rather than the calliper then what difference can there be ??? and can i use a NON ABS carrier ??

any suggestions would be gratefully received
thanks in advance

Paul

No difference in the carriers I would have thought anyway.

Spoke to a guy from MITZYBITS this morning and he assures me that the carriers are different Sad and hes trying to find a used one for me.,After looking at my hubs, callipers etc i cant for the life of me see were the ABS stuff is..surely Mitsubishi wouldnt just fit a "standardised" set of check lights on the dash even if the car dosnt have ABS ?? although the ABS light does seem to do a "check" before going out...bloody cars !

Its possible to drill out the bust pin from the carrier, but to do it right it needs setting up on a milling machine really to make sure you get it square and true to the bore. I have done this before on mine to reclaim the caliper carrier as I have a milling machine.

I can not think why the non-ABS and ABS carrier are different. I wonder if the Mitzybits are talking about the hub carrier and not the caliper carrier (sometimes called caliper yoke?)

I've just looked on Milner's site - their calipers come with sliders.

They don't list separate ones for ABS and non ABS.

Why not just have your carrier repaired?

A repair would be ideal but some of the quotes I've had for it are riduclous, and now I'm determined to establish if the carriers are indeed different Smile
