Heppy

Before you go running off to a garage, have a look under the bonnet to make sure the belt to the compressor is Ok (not broken or slipping).

If the belt is OK and the compressor isn't tripping in as it should then you are probably looking at re-gassing (when was it las t gassed - they need doing about every 2-3 years)

JM Autos in Maltby, Rotherham have a guy that does re-gassing 01709 819800 - thnk cost is about £100

Hope this helps

Hi There old chap, Go for a run in the Paj with the aircon on full, Leave engine to run open bonnet. Look to the right side of of the rad from the front, you will see a small cylindrical component with a small glass window facing upward. Look into the window if the bubbles that are there are large then the gas is fine, if the bubbles are very small foamy in appearance then she will need re-gassing. Hope this is of some help.

Hi,
Just a quick word of advice. If you see any bubbles at all in the sight glass that is situated on top of the filter/drier then the system is undercharged to some degree. The only sure way of correcting this is to have the system safely recovered (there is no way of knowing how much is left in the system), pressure tested with nitrogen, vacuum de-hydrated and re-charged to the correct wieght of refrigerant NOT charged by pressure as this could and probably will lead to a dangerous overcharge situation when the weather gets warmer. If you are paying £100.00 or more for this then your being stung. I charge £55.00 and that includes adding oil to the compressor and treating the evaporator.
