i was told you can blank this off with a coke can but due to the problems i have had when the coke can gets hot it breaks up and then it goes into the manifold and smashes the turbo up nice bill off £600 i advise only use pajero owners club plate Rolling Eyes

Ouch!

Thanks for the recommendation but ...

My advice ... blanking is a temporary fix that will help to reduce smoke, reduce emissions, improve economy AND power (not often that you hear the last two in the same sentence!) ... there is a downside to blanking the EGR valve though ... a marginal increase in the temperature in the head ... not much, but maybe enough to accellerate any problems that may already exist.

4 years ago, we had a new head on our 2.5 and had the EGR valve blanked at the same time ... never had a problem since ... but it was fitted with a new head ... the same may not be true for a 10-15year old head that may already have 'weak spots'.

Blank the EGR for a quick fix, for example, to get through the MOT, but for a longer term solution, look at refurbishing the EGR valve - it's really not as difficult as you might imagine - especially with Full instructions with pictures! <-- Click to link

Simon.
