refilling tilt meter
Easy job....or so I thought. Got the unit dismantled easily enough
and traced the leak to the back plate which apears to have been
produced from plastic a bit thicker than clingfilm.....Mitsubishi
what the hell were you thinking of?. After sealing leak with clear
high modular sealant the awkward bit of topping it up. The bung they
put in the hole was sealed under glue and this proved impossible to
remove so I thought what about using a syringe....after getting hold
of an insulin syringe I filled it with new oil (Baby oil works
well!!) I put it through the thin plastic and attempted to fill. The
trouble is that the needle was too small and the oil didnt like it
and it took ages. I resorted to drilling the bung in the end,
topping up the oil with a paint syringe and sealing it again with
silicone sealant....it works but what a bad design...the thin
plastic splits at the slightest pressure and I found the best way
was to ensure it was oil free and seal the whole back plate with
silicone.
ah well got it done eventually

baby oil !!!
Good Job Rob.. I need to fill mine up too, are you sure baby oil is
up to the job? I thought you had to use some special stuff?

Rob, Allan
The original stuff was/is glycerine, used as a damper for the
workings so i would expect baby oil to work in a similar way. If you
can get glycerine then that would be the stuff to use. Possibly from
the chemist??

PS
As we are useing this site because (shssss) cadnet have not pulled

I will give it a go......if it doesn't work I can always rewrite it

just filled mine up with glycerin. Got the bung out with a bit of
fiddling and filled it up using an old biro. I also had to make a
small air hole next to the bung hole ( hot nail works better than
drilling - no bits in the meter ) Then sealed it all as Rob.
It takes 100 ml of glycerin, £1.41 from chemists.
