Hi all,

I know there is a few post covering this but between all of them I can make head nor tail as the instructions for the unit I have got are rather sparse chinglish.. pm me for photo of instructions. I can't make it upload...

I have read that the wires for attaching to the existing central locking are by the accelerator peddle, but the colours in the post don't match what is in the Haynes book of lies.

I have also purchased a 2 wire actuator for the drivers door.
Is any one able to post a fag packet schematic??

Many thanks in advance!!

Dave

What model and year is your truck?

Does it lock and unlock all the doors when you use the key in the driver's door? - if it does then you don't need the actuator.

Hi,

1995 2.8 pajero lwb.

When I use the key in the drivers door it unlocks all the doors.

When I use the key in another door it just unlocks that door.

Cheers!!

You won't need the actuator as long as you connect to the wiring coming out of the door.

The central locking has two wires behind the triangular kick panel next to the driver's right foot.

They are in this connector - sorry about the insulating tape - but you can see the two yellow wires from my unit

The two wires you are looking for are Black/Red (Lock wire) and Black/Blue (Unlock wire)

You need to test you have the correct wires by earthing each one BUT don't earth them with just a wire - use one of THESE as the bulb in the tester will protect the control unit. Also the tip is needle sharp and you can push it into the wire without damaging the insulation.

Earthing one  (using the test lamp) locks the car - earthing the other unlocks it. Test this by earthing one then the other, before you go any further.

The unit you have bought should have a "lock" wire and an "unlock" wire - they are connected to the wires you have just identified in the loom.

Your wiring colours maybe different to mine but using the tester will find the correct ones for your truck .

Ok excellent, thank you.

What happens if I don't have an actuator in my driver's door? Run two new wire that link to the passenger side and then connect the remote unit as you described!?

Cheers

If the whole truck unlocks from the driver's side key then it will work by connecting as described above - no need to fit any actuators. I've not heard of a Pajero that needs them fitting.

It won't work connecting your unit to the passenger side as the key in that door doesn't open all the other doors.

A test with the test light as described above will confirm it will work from the drivers side.

Cool thanks.

I've only got a multimeter, so I'll pop to toolsation tomorrow and get a test lamp and give it a crack.
I plan to fit on Saturday while Mark3 fixes my fuel pump.  Very Happy

If I get time I'll do a proper how to with photos.

Cheers!

You maybe would get away with using a bit of wire to earth but there are twp problems:

1) I am not sure if it would damage the Central locking controller

2) The needle tip on the tester means you don't have to strip the insulation on the wiring loom.

It's not worth the risk I think for the price of a £3 test lamp with a stabby end from toolsation

That's what I thought when I fitted mine - the bulb just adds a bit of resistance so you are not earthing the wire with a dead short. It worked on mine.

It lets you connect to the conductor in the wire with very little damage to the insulation - I bet you also stab your finger, I have quite a few times!!
