Wideglide.
My lady got her Paj from the firm below:
http://www.thewrightimportcar.com/index.html
I'm fearful of recommending any car dealer to be honest but she did get treated very well by them.
The cars are in the yard and are more or less 'as is' off the ship.
The bonus I believe of this is you see the cars with the milage on the speedo's they come into the country with.
I believe shipments come in once a month ( around the 7/8th)
Phone them on the day to see what times they are open before you head there. I think you have to phone anyway to let them know you're coming.
They're located inside Liverpool Freeport so you may have to stop at the Police gate to get in , anyway they'll direct you to it.
There's a 25mph speed limit in there and they have speed cameras!
You MUST go over any choice with a fine tooth comb.
If you're not a mechanic TAKE one with you.
No prices displayed on the cars, you have to ask.
Best of luck, but as a poster has already said:
BUYER BEWARE!
PS. I would deffo give the Auction a miss unless you absolutely know what you are doing.
Let us know if you go and how you got on. |

Does anyone know what prices Wrightimportcars charge?
ie On an import specialist garage forecourt you're looking at about £7000 for say a J reg Pajero LWB with 60K.
Are the direct imported ones that much cheaper and worth buying, bearing in mind nothings been done to them and its presumably"sold as seen"? |

Ian, (I presume you posted to me)
It's a 94 SWB Pajero 2.8 IC TD XRII. Gunmetal grey..It was filthy but looks immaculate once washed and valeted.(£50) Can't find a spot of rust on the bodywork. Wee bit on bolts holding A bar onto bumper.
No one believes it's almost 10 years old by looking at it.
(maybe she was just lucky?)
Alloy wheels and big tyres. Two a bit worn. Plus no socket for locking wheel nuts on two wheels, only noticed them yesterday!
No radio
High mileage - 160,000 km
Price asked 'as was' = £4500.
He sorted the SVA and registration approx =£560
AA inspection £200.... not that impressed with that BTW.
Mechanic friend did about £500 worth of work for MOT
Split gators, bushes.etc.
Oh, and we had to replace the windscreen.£110. .....AA wanted £220,harumph!
Put a radio in -£100 plus £15 for adaptor extension lead.
Road tax. £165.
Around £6000 in all.
PS. If car is over 10 years old no SVA required.
NB. I looked at loads of private sales ( all imports) in and around Merseyside and quite a few left me a bit iffy as the mileage numbers on the speedo's didn't appear to all be level with one another - if you know what I mean!
With any import pot luck can be applied....and Let the buyer beware. |

I'm collecting my 2.8Delica from Exceeds any day now. The car was spotless when I went to check it, and has 140,000 km on the clock. Full SVA, Mot, 6 months tax and 3 months warranty. Also having a Cat 1 alarm fitted. The car is still advertised on their website.... Black over silver. They seem very straight, have kept me aware of how the car was doing in terms of SVA, are arrangeing Registrationin my name (after I provided insurance details (based on chassis number)). The price was £6500 (6840 with Alarm). They have plenty of Pajeros, right up to 1999 and 2000 models at £18,000+. Check out their website

I just purchased (about 2 months ago) a 2.5 LWB (92) TD from Ravensthorpe (Northampton - just outside anyway) for £7k (55k on the clock). I have never owned anything like this before and know absolutely nothing (well almost) about cars.
My rating? 10/10.
Service excellent, staff friendly (not pushy at all). After sales service excellent and they even took my old heap (begrudgingly, but they took it - I think the dealers comment was something like "you want money for that?").
Plenty of stock there, but everything sells almost before it arrives. I got to see the one I chose before they had had a chance to clean it up (it had just come off of the lorry) so I had the "warts and all" look. I also got to drive immediatly a selection of cars with and without the dealer sitting with me (its all country lanes around there ).
As a last point, all cars have a new cam belt fitted and a CAT 1 immobiliser as standard (I also had this upgraded for £150 to a CAT 2, giving me remote locking and an alarm to annoy the neighbours with). They also replaced 3 tyres because I mentioned they were worn and replaced the fitted TV (it wouldn't work over here) with my radio/CD and changed the centre console to make it look right (for free).
How about that for service! I am one very happy customer.
Now all I need to do is join into a 4x4 day and give it a real go.
Their website is on here (see end), but if they haven't got what you are looking for then call them (they are very friendly) to see what is coming in.
Good luck!
