Re: restricted access suggestions for those not paying.

I've just been searching for information on a completely different vehicle I want to use a part off- ideally I'm after a busy users group much like this one, but theres no way I'd want to pay a sub to ask a few one-off questions. A completely open group is best as it encourages diversity, its not like (as far as I'm aware) this place suffers spam attacks.

Sounds cheap at the price considering the wealth of experience by members on the forums, a lot of probems would cost pounds using a garage for diagnostics, My son's garage charge £50+ per hour Exclamation Exclamation

i said this about a year ago although may i just say that and please nobody take this the wrong way if everybody posted links to the pickys instead of posting them on the forum then im sure this would help with costs all the other forums im privy to have all banned picky posts because of the costs involved... just a thort.

i know u can make parts of the forum hidden so just hide the parts that we will pay for paying is a great way to keep the foum going cost wize and to raise some cash for a jar of coffee for when we all get together for commitee meetings. Wink

If a charge was to come along - yes I would certainly pay it - BUT - personally I'd prefer to see the website carrying on for free for as long as we can. Once you start charging for entry the whole flavour of the site inevitably changes, it costs money to collect the money and gradually we move away from the original concept of a group of enthusiasts exchanging info and ideas.
